There’s nothing like beating the heat with summertime’s most refreshing fruit — watermelon. On August 3, we celebrate this ancient berry in a feast of juicy deliciousness—otherwise known as National Watermelon Day. Hattingdon has the perfect hat . . . . naturally. Here it is.
People have been digging into this tasty, juicy fruit for millennia and it all started in Ancient Egypt. It’s said that watermelon cultivation began in the Nile Valley as early as the second millennium B.C. Watermelon seeds were even found in King Tut’s tomb!
According to “The Dictionary of American Food and Drink” by John Mariani, the word ‘watermelon’ first appeared in the English dictionary in 1615.
Hattingdon creator and designer Vivian Grant Farrell came across the hats below on an old flash drive. This flirty saucer (which she named “Tracey”) comes in two looks, in an array of bright, bold colours. We chose the full version with the cascading leaf embellishment to show you here. What do you think?
“According to fashion’s top designers, we’re in for a very lemon-lime 2022. Just look at the color palette! Lime green, saturated yellow, classic Kelly green and sunset orange are all trending hues incorporated on the Spring/Summer 2022 runways, each with its own special tang.”
We pay tribute to Thomas Alva Edison, born on this day, the 11th of February.
Created in 2018 and named after the great inventor himself, here’s Hattingdon’s “Edison” bowler hat and light show.
There’s more ….! The “Edison” bowler hat also comes in multi-colored light bulbs.
This is one of Mrs Farrell’s favorite Hattingdons ever. It definitely has her unique imagination and sense of humor stamped all over it.
