Yellow Hat Parade Day 1

How about some cheery hats to distract us for a bit? The happiest color we can think of is yellow. So this week — from Monday 25th July through Saturday 30th July, we will feature Hattingdon in happy yellow hats.

It is Classic Hat Monday, so let us kick off the festivities with her Lacey hat.

Yellow symbolizes happiness, warmth and sunshine in most cultures — characteristics of the yellow sun and its effects.

Sweet, sunny Solana

Back in 2015, a charming ladies’ gardening club based in Atlanta asked Vivian to create a Hattingdon just for them. She did, and named the design Solana. We had tee shirts made for them, tote bags, greeting cards and mugs. Here she is.

Solana is a girl’s name of Spanish origin meaning “sunshine”.

Being such a sunny hat, it puts us in mind of that George and Ira Gershwin, Heyward Du Bose song — “Summertime”.

Summertime
And the livin’ is easy
Fish are jumpin’
And the cotton is high
Oh, your daddy’s rich
And your ma’ is good lookin’
So hush
Little baby
Don’t you cry

Summertime lyrics © Nokawi Music. Sung by Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald.

It is nice to see you here. Come back and see us again soon!

Sunny Tuesday

It is chilly, wet and a bit dreary where we are. We decided to cheer ourselves up — and you of course — with the Sunny sweetheart hat. Here she is.

When Mrs Farrell first created the hat shape above, we didn’t know what to call it. After a bit more discussion, she heard someone conversing in the background say, “I don’t know what we should call it, but it sure is a sweetheart of hat.” Voila! The rest as they say, is history.
